Dr. Julie Pearson has been a small animal veterinarian for 18
years. She founded SonoPaws LLC
in November 2018 in Hampton, VA to follow her passion for
ultrasound. She moved back to Northern Virginia in 2020.
Born in France, she graduated from Lyon veterinary school in
2005. As a military spouse, she had the opportunity to
practice in France, South Korea, Texas, Nevada and Virginia.
She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical
Association (AVMA), the American Association of Feline
Practitioners (AAFP), and the International Veterinary
Ultrasound Society (IVUSS). She is currently serving on
the IVUSS Board as the President-Elect. IVUSS promotes
the advancement of knowledge of veterinary ultrasound,
including imaging and interpretation. Board members
organize a yearly international meeting offering high
quality continuing education in ultrasound (soft tissue,
small parts, and cardiology). IVUSS also works with the
Certification Committee in charge of the 3 year advanced
training program for DVMs, and collaborate with other
international veterinary groups.

Dr. Julie Pearson's formal ultrasound training was provided by
Oncura Partners and Sound Academy of Veterinary Imaging.
She has accumulated over 300 hours of continuing education,
and finished her 3 year IVUSS certification program in
April 2023. She is now Cert. IVUSS. The IVUSS Certification
requires the submission of 15 clinical cases (10 soft tissue
ultrasounds, 5 echocardiograms), with discussion and literature
review. The cases are evaluated by a panel of Cert. IVUSS,
DACVR, and DACVIM (Cardiology). A 3-hour written test on
ultrasound physics, soft tissue ultrasound, and echocardiography
is taken after the completion of the clinical cases. The final
step is a timed practical exam (abdominal ultrasound and
echocardiogram), under the supervision of 2 Cert. IVUSS members.
The IVUSS Certification is an international advanced program,
with 20 current Cert. members, and a dozen of current
candidates worldwide.
Dr. Pearson is the proud owner of a Logiq e Vet NextGen portable
machine, with 4 transducers. 8C and 12L for abdomen, 3S and 6S
for heart studies with doppler. Dr. Julie Pearson created
SonoPaws LLC to provide
Northern Virginia veterinarians with a fast, non-invasive
and highly diagnostic tool, so that they can go one step
further in patient care.
